Erik Grover - Owner

After earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Health and Human Performance, Erik entered the body art profession working at Fantasy Graphics in Hays, KS. Quickly realizing his passion for body art, he moved to Wichita, KS to start his piercing apprenticeship at Elektrik Chair. In 2006 he completed 1,500 hours of supervised training, passed a written and practical exam, and was then awarded his license to practice independently. In his first seven years, he primarily worked at Elektrik Chair, guest pierced at multiple studios across the nation, attended multiple piercing conferences and workshops to further develop his techniques and practices. At this time he identified Wichita’s need for a studio that was willing to implement safety standards that far exceed the baseline requirements.

Wichita took notice and together Erik and our community spread the word throughout the Midwest turning Elektrik Chair into a highly sought after studio. With the momentum of the business growing under his guidance he became the sole owner Elektrik Chair Piercing in 2014. After six years of continuing to develop and fine tune the piercing experience for his outstanding, fun, and loyal clients he separated the piercing studio from the tattoo studio. This allowed Erik to continue his vision with designing an atmosphere that was welcoming for clients of all ages and backgrounds.

His devotion to his clients is apparent in his willingness and excitement to open an additional studio in Kansas. He learned some clients were traveling significant distances for his services and he listened and took action on upon their requests of expansion. Erik and his childhood best friend and long time piercing colleague, Brett Pfanenstiel, broke ground in Lawrence to open Ad Astra Piercing Company. Erik’s studios are the only two studios in the state that are members of the Association of Professional Piercers. Erik is a firm believer that the success of both studios has been a team effort between his “work family” and his communities. He is forever grateful for the opportunity to continue on his endeavor of ensuring body art is available, safe, and a positive experience for all involved.
